About Taiheiji

The Soto Mission of Aiea Taiheiji is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to practice, promote, and perpetuate the Buddha’s teaching of love, mercy, and compassion. Taiheiji and its eight sister temples in Hawaii belong to a network of over 14,664 Soto temples worldwide. The temple, located in historic Aiea town on the island of Oahu not only serves the religious needs of its growing congregation, but is committed to providing a safe place and nurturing environment for the people of the Aiea community to gather. Taiko, kendo, karate, judo, aikido, fukiya, shizendo, soroban, and karaoke, are activities that Taiheiji offers. We are proud to have activities at the temple seven days a week.

Taiheiji is governed by its Board of Directors who are elected by its membership. We are truly fortunate to have a growing membership and network of supporters. Rev. Shuji Komagata, a Hawaii-born minister, has led the congregation since June 2005.
