The Aiea Karate Club, officially named the Aiea Matsubayashi Ryu Karate Club was started in 1965 by Sensei William Rabacal at the request of Rev. Kogan Yoshizumi.
Over 55 years and hundreds of students later, the club is now led by Sensei Clayton Matsuoka, a student of the late Sensei Rabacal. Much attention is given learning the proper “kata,” or technique.
Classes are held every week on:
Tuesdays 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
All Karate students are encouraged to participate in helping the temple at various activities like temple cleanups, Bon Dance, and the annual BBQ chicken fundraiser.
