The Aiea Fukiya Club is part of the Japan Sports Fukiya Association of Hawaii. This Aiea club was started at Taiheiji in March 2008 by Mr. Goro Tokiwa, and quickly grew to about 15 members.
Fukiya is the Japanese blowgun, and also refers to the competitive sport. It consists of a 3 feet 11 inch tube and darts about 7.9 inches long. Unlike western blowguns, the Fukiya has no mouthpiece. The shooter must maintain a seal with the lips as he or she forcefully exhales. The bullseye target is about 20 feet away.
Although this is a competitive sport, many participants utilize Fukiya as exercise and social activity.
The club gathers on Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and again on Saturdays, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Please call Rev. Shuji Komagata at 808-488-6794 for more information.
NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aiea Fukiya Club is currently not holding practices.
