A Message from Rev. Shuji Komagata
With palms together in gassho, I express to you my deepest sympathy. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this time of sorrow. You may count on me to provide you with spiritual support and to help you with the appropriate Soto Zen Buddhist memorial services for your departed loved one.
The essence of the Buddhist funeral is linked to some of the most basic teachings of the Buddha. The funeral service is a time to honor the deceased. It provides an opportunity for family and friends to come together and support each other through the grieving process and period of mourning, allowing for a gentle letting go through time and ritual, while also remembering the preciousness of the life of their beloved.
As with all services, the family will have the option of having their services held privately with the family and close friends attending, or publicly in which the members of the community are welcome to attend.
Please call me at any time with your questions and concerns or just to talk about the deceased and the sadness that you’re feeling. Now and always, may the light and compassion of the Buddha enfold and comfort you.
Namu Kie Butsu. Namu Kie Ho. Namu Kie So.
In Gassho,
Reverend Shuji Komagata
