Tsuicho-e

It was in 1929 that Mrs. Taki Yoshizumi, wife of Rev. Kogan Yoshizumi, organized Taiheiji’s Fujinkai (women members). Through the decades, the Taiheiji Fujinkai women have continued to volunteer their time unselfishly for the temple. At Taiheiji, Tsuicho-e, which means “memorial service,” is observed in May and is specially dedicated to the departed members of the Fujinkai. This service is important as current members offer their gratitude for the path laid down by the pioneer women of the temple.
